I am 64 years old and had to divorce last year after 36 years of marriage. My ex-husband was an alcoholic, and I made my own mistakes when dealing with his addiction. A few months ago, I started dating a man who had been in recovery for 40 years.

I wanted to show up differently in this relationship.

Thanks to all I have learned from you, Dr. Laura, I am working on being "cute and adorable" as you say. I’m not trying to change him. I’m showing him appreciation and affection. We’re having fun and loving our differences as men and women.

The other day he said he didn't quite understand it, but I made him feel like a man.

I just about fell over. He said he hadn't experienced this before. Wow, just wow. I thought "Dr. Laura would LOVE this!" He treats me with love, respect, and adoration and is protective without being suffocating. Admittedly, we are early on in this relationship, but I am taking things a day at a time and living in total appreciation for what we have so far and for all YOU have taught me. Thank you for all you do.
