Choosing Wisely for Your Future Kids

What to look for and what to avoid

The Importance of Marrying a Real Man

Karoline’s son was ruling the roost through angry outbursts. He showed disrespect to everyone in the family, including his father, who was acting like what I call a ‘limp dick.’

When Karoline called me for help, I explained that a son who sees his dad as weak becomes the power in the family.

Mothers are wonderful, but our boys need to be guided by alpha males.

Family dynamics are an important reason to pick a strong man as your husband and the father of your children. The man you choose to marry is more than a sperm donor. He will be the standard by which your daughter judges the men she dates, and he’ll be the one who teaches your son what it is to be a man.

Good qualities to seek in a future husband and father:

  • Integrity

  • Confidence

  • Bravery

  • Dependability

  • Trustworthiness

  • Steadfastness

Characteristics to avoid when choosing the father of your children:

  • Insecurity

  • Ambivalence

  • Passivity

  • Violence

  • Anger

  • Addiction

New life takes place in your belly. Take responsibility for that.

Honoring Veterans Today

I want to remind you that our freedom was not free. We are the home of the bravest men and women who sacrifice their lives in the line of duty fighting for the future of our nation every day.

Today, look at a mission close to my heart, Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation and donate to this patriotic cause. This organization provides college scholarships to our Gold Star families.

I Am Not a Weenie

How many of you have cowered from confronting immoral or irresponsible behaviors? Ellie’s decision to take on a workplace injustice may have cost her her job, but here’s what she gained from sticking to her values:

I've listened to your program for many years. The older I get, the more aware I am that I've stolen many of your phrases.

I was recently fired from my job.

This was a part-time job that I was good at and took lots of personal pride in. So why was I fired? Because I am not a weenie. I was not willing to take a disrespectfully written and untruthful performance review without a conversation with management and owners. They cowardly snuck this review into my paycheck envelope and handed it to me as I left for vacation. During our review conversation, they were not willing to recognize any wrongdoing or disrespect.

The next day, a coworker called me to talk about her own negative performance review.

She was fretting about her follow-up meeting with management. I told her “It doesn't matter how hard something is to do. People do hard things every day. If it's the right thing to do, you do it. And that makes doing hard things a lot easier for me.” Her response was the best. She said, "I don't know if you've ever heard of this radio host person before...but what you just said was some Dr. Laura-level wisdom!" I laughed out loud and all I could say was, "Thank you. I love Dr. Laura!"

I think you should publish a big coffee table book of "Dr Laura-isms!" I'd be the first one to buy it!
